Skiing & Snowboarding in Zillertal
When white gold covers the mountains, nature has begun it's winter sleep and a warming fire creates a feeling of cosy well-being – then in Zillertal this is the call for active winter fun with numerous highlights amidst fantastic mountain scenery!
Skiing Fun
245 km of piste, 5 skiing areas, 64 modern lifts, 35 ski lodges at an altitude of between 840 and 3,250 metres make up the Skiing and Glacier World of the Upper Zillertal.
Guaranteed snow can be found 15 km away on Hintertux Glacier!
Cross-Country Skiing
30 km of well-made trails run down the valley alongside the river, with guaranteed snow.
... and for those who simply can't get enough - the trails in Burgschrofen are also floodlit in the evening!
Tobogganing
Numerous toboggan runs with romantic mountain lodges can be reached on foot or by taxi; offering the chance to stop for a gluhwein and enjoy local specialities before descending through the forests of the Upper Zillertal.
The longest toboggan run into the valley is 7 km and was chosen by ADAC in 2011 as Austria's best.
Ice-Skating
Go for stylish curves or try your hand at curling on the 1,500m² artificial ice rink in Mayrhofen.
Skate hire for children and adults is also available at the rink.
Paragliding
Take off with an experienced pilot and one of Stock's own chutes at an altitude of more than 2,000 metres and experience a very special kind of flight.
Tandem-flight professionals are at you disposal in the Finkenberg skiing area.
Ice Climbing
Our holiday region offers fearless climbing fanatics the opportunity to climb numerous ice waterfalls.
Learn ice climbing techniques under the professional guidance of 'action guides'. For all those who prefer a warmer environment, the indoor climbing centres in Mayrhofen and Aschau provide offer great amenities.
Winter Walks
A winter holiday is also a walking holiday: 30 km of cleared and prepared walking trails for athletic Nordic walking or romantic winter walks await you!
